New iPhone Application (Digital Sunscreen) Provides Personalized Estimate of Time Until You Sunburn
Digital Sunscreen is an iPhone application that protects you from the sun by calculating an individualized estimate of the time until you sunburn. The Digital Sunscreen application builds upon the Environmental Protection Agency’s UV index for a specific location and adds the user’s skin type, the application of sunblock, as well as environmental factors to provide a personalized estimate of the time for sunburn. With Digital Sunscreen, you now know when it is time to head inside or cover-up to prevent a sunburn. It also answers the tough questions of when to apply sunblock before heading outdoors, or whether you might need to pack sunblock on your next vacation.
After reviewing Digital Sunscreen, Todd Ogasawara at Mediabistro stated: “Having seen way too many lobster red tourists who apparently did not apply sufficient (or any) sunscreen, this seems like a valuable tool for anyone living in or visiting a sunny location.”

Digital Sunscreen Features:
Retrieve the UV Index for your current location and any location in the United States (as provided by the Environmental Protection Agency).
Input personal settings related to skin type, the application of sunscreen, and general environmental conditions (clear sky, overcast, mountains).
Based on personal settings and the UV index, estimates the time until sunburn.
Countdown timer displays time until sunburn.
Finds current location using GPS and also allows the user to change the location to estimate the time to sunburn for any location in the United States.
Emits “warning alarm” once estimated time for sunburn occurs.
Know when you might get a sunburn!!!
